LINGUISTIC DIVERSITY PARA ITI UMINGAN

Schools in the Philippines mostly teach children or students using the Tagalog dialect and the English since they are the major languages for communication in the country. Not all schools give importance to their own local dialect so some students grow up not being able to speak their own native tongue. I believe that everyone should be able to speak the native dialect together with the English language.

Umingan is an Ilokano City. So, most people speak either Ilokano or Tagalog. I suggest that Ilokano should be used or implemented in certain subjects in school but not completely so other necessary languages(such as English) could still be learned. Being able to speak and understand  your own dialect would greatly improve relationships with your "kababayans".

It would also be nice to have a program wherein there would be Centers where other languages (such as Japanese, Mandarin, Spanish, etc.) could be readily taught to those locals who are willing to learn. Having a diverse language would be a big asset for those who would want to work abroad in the future. It could also help boost tourism in the province if people could speak multiple languages.
